(a) Authoritative Parenting

The authoritative type of parent is very caring and demanding. Their expectation of their child is high. They want to make their child excellent in every part of life, like in academics, sports, and extra curriculum activities.

Authoritative parents set rules and draw boundaries for their children. They are supportive, warm, and affectionate. Reliable parents love to encourage the independence of their child. Authoritative parents know how to mold as per circumstances for their child’s goodwill. This kind of parents are very responsive to their children. They teach their children social manners. They know very well what is excellent and what is not okay for their children.

Children of Authoritative Parents are:

  • More Independent
  • Having good self-esteem
  • Very social and having the right social circle
  • Happy and content

Authoritarian Parenting is precisely opposite to Authoritative Parenting. Authoritarian parents are more demanding and side by side, less responsive too. Strict Parents are generally not very much nurturing toward their children. They set high rules and boundaries for their children. They usually have a very firm attitude towards their children. They don’t like to listen no to their children. They want the best from their children at any cost. As a result, children of this type of parents become stubborn, and they don’t like to follow their parents.

Neglectful parents are those who don’t care about their children. They are not aware of their children’s needs and completely uninvolved in their lives.

These types of parents tend to have some medical issues themselves, like depression, physical abuse, or having a neglected childhood.

Authoritative Parenting is the best among all parenting styles. I suggest to the parents that along with choosing the right parenting style, you have to nurture your children with some virtues that will help your child to make a better human being in life.

These virtues are:
